The biggest fashion event in the world, The Met Gala has returned in full force!!
On Monday evening, May 1st, 2023, some of the biggest names and forces in the industry from fashion, entertainment, movies, modeling, and more industry gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute in New York City.
The Met Gala or Met Ball, which was formally called the Costume Institute Gala, is an annual fundraising gala held for the benefit of the Museum of Arts.
The Met Gala is fashion’s big night out and only the top power players in all industries are invited.
This year’s Met Gala theme was “In honor of Karl’, which was to honor the late Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld.
As expected tip celebrities graced the event strutting the red carpet with their endearing look.
Award-winning singers, Temilade Openiyi better known as Tems, and Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy made Nigerians proud as they made their first debut
The Afrobeats stars stunned the red carpet looking enchanting with their outfit.
Burna Boy graced the event donning a matching black and blue slightly checkered outfit and a generous cape-like extension of the same material flowing behind him.
Tems, on the other hand, wore a Custom Rober Wun dress, a black corset-like top, a flowing regal white finishing at the bottom, and elbow-length gloves.
Tems was styled by Dunsun Wright; and unlike her Oscar outfit, Tems didn’t block anyone’s view.
Rihanna honored with a statue at Met Gala 2022
Last year, Barbados American singer, Robyn Fenty better known as Rihanna was honored with a status of her own at the Met Gala.
The singer who didn’t attend the prestigious fashion event because she was due to give birth was honored at the occasion.
The organizers of the Met Museum honored her legendary fashion styles with a pregnant statue of her at the Met Museum.
A delighted Rihanna took to her Instagram page to appreciate the Met Museum team and Vogue Magazine, which is in charge of the annual Met Gala.
Taking to her Instagram page, Rihanna shared a video of the status as she penned an appreciation post.
She stated that she shut down the Met Gala in marble and questioned what is more Gilead than the status.
Rihanna captioned the video, “Shut down the met in marble! What’s more Gilead than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! Y’all bad for this one”.
