EPL: Reece James out for the season – Lampard

Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard, has confirmed that Reece James will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

The England defender picked up the injury during the team’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg defeat by Real Madrid, and a scan has revealed the extent of the problem.

Lampard also revealed midfielder Mason Mount is also unlikely to play again this campaign due to a problem with his pelvis.

“Reece James will be unavailable for the rest of the season, Mason Mount the same, he might make the last match but that’s unlikely. That’s obviously disappointing for us,” Lampard said.

“Reece had a hamstring injury in the midweek game, he got through it but then had a scan and he’s out.

“Mason has been carrying a pelvic injury for a while, it predates myself, he has been trying typically but he will have minor surgery, then will have a four-week recovery.”
