Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo has urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu’s reform policies for prosperity, stability, and progress of the nation’s economic and social transformation.
Mr Uzodimma made the call on Sunday in his Easter message at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish, Ozuh, Omuma, in Orlu East Local Government Area of the state.
He commended Mr Tinubu for his bold and pragmatic economic policies, which, he said, made more resources available to sub-national governments.“His government is reform-driven, which comes with its initial hardship, but at the end of the tunnel, I think we are beginning to see the light.
“We may not have arrived at our desired destination yet, but it is evident to all discerning minds that our country is timely on the path of recovery and sustainable growth,” Mr Uzodimma said.
He also commended Nigerians for their patience and resilience “during this period of national rebuilding”.Mr Uzodimma said, “Your understanding and cooperation remain vital for achieving our shared national goals.”
The governor said the changes in the state were “because we were able to key into the policies of the federal government in maximising and optimising all opportunities”.
He said his administration had redefined good governance and worked to improve the lives of the people over the past five years.
“Our vision has been clear and consistent to promote the well-being of all Imo people through a robust economy and sustained infrastructure development.
“This is why we are working relentlessly to ensure that in the coming months, local governments in Imo will have an uninterrupted power supply,” he said.
Mr Uzodimma described Easter as a “turning point for Christians”, symbolising new beginnings, hope, and victory, secured by Christ’s love and sacrifice.
Earlier in a homily, Augustine Ukwuoma, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, urged leaders in the country to emulate Jesus Christ’s leadership qualities of service.
