Soludo Wins APGA Primaries, Secures Ticket For Anambra Governorship Election

Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has officially emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the upcoming November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election in Anambra State.

Soludo, who was the sole aspirant in the APGA primary election, received a unanimous endorsement from party delegates during the exercise held on Saturday at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital.

Announcing the outcome of the primary, the Returning Officer, Uche Nwegbo, provided a breakdown of the process: out of 3,260 total delegates, 3,175 were accredited. A total of 3,172 votes were cast, with only four declared invalid. Governor Soludo received 3,168 “Yes” votes, with zero “No” votes recorded.

“By the powers vested in me as the Returning Officer, I hereby declare Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the duly elected candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for the 2025 Anambra governorship election,” Nwegbo announced.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming show of support and trust reposed in him by the party. He described the moment as a historic testament to APGA’s unity and the people’s belief in his vision for Anambra.

“Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra. I am deeply humbled by this remarkable expression of solidarity. I accept this nomination with gratitude and a renewed commitment to continue serving our dear state,” Soludo said.

Reflecting on his administration’s performance, the governor underscored that his government has been delivering significant infrastructural and economic progress without borrowing any funds—a rare feat in Nigeria’s current economic climate.

“We are achieving all these milestones without borrowing a single Naira. And let me be clear—we’re just getting started. Anambra has not yet seen the full scale of our transformation agenda,” he stated.

Governor Soludo also announced that his current deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, would continue as his running mate in the 2025 election, reaffirming his confidence in their partnership. “If it’s not broken, why fix it?” he remarked.

Brimming with optimism, Soludo predicted a sweeping victory for APGA in the general election, stating his confidence in the party’s strength and grassroots support.

“We will win in all 21 local government areas, all 326 wards, and maybe even every polling unit. We are not just contesting we are making a bold statement of people’s power,” he declared.

The governor praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primary election, commending party delegates, support groups, and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their roles in ensuring a credible and transparent process.

With this declaration, Governor Soludo sets the stage for what promises to be a fiercely contested election, as he seeks a second term on the back of what he describes as “governance driven by prudence, progress, and purpose.”
