Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled to hold on November 8, 2025.
The APC primary election, which took place at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka, saw Ukachukwu clinch the party’s ticket with a commanding lead. He secured a total of 1,455 votes out of the 1,630 valid votes cast, while 26 votes were declared invalid.
His closest rival, Mr. Val Ozigbo, garnered 67 votes to come second. John Bosco Onunkwo followed with 26 votes, while Edozie Mmadu polled 8 votes to place fourth.
The results were announced by the Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Bassey Otu, who served as the Chief Returning Officer for the primary election. In his remarks, Governor Otu praised the smooth conduct of the election and commended all stakeholders, including the electoral officials, security agencies, committee members, aspirants, and delegates for their contributions to the success of the exercise. He urged party members to rally behind the winner to ensure the APC’s victory in the November governorship poll.
In his acceptance speech, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC for ensuring a transparent and peaceful primary election. He also appreciated members of the party across Anambra State for entrusting him with their mandate. Ukachukwu assured them of his commitment to making the party proud and delivering good governance if elected as governor in November.
Also speaking at the event, the APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, lauded the efforts of the President, the national and state working committees, and all stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the primary. He emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort among party members to achieve victory at the polls.
The primary election was closely monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Elizabeth Agwu. The voting process, which extended into the night, was conducted under strict supervision and concluded without incident.
