Senator Natasha Faces Suspension And Recall Plot Amidst Political Drama and Legal Concerns

A prominent party member has expressed deep outrage over the suspension and ongoing attempt to recall Senator Natasha, describing the situation as a blatant abuse of power and a mockery of democratic principles in Nigeria.

According to the speaker, instead of establishing an independent body to investigate the claims against Natasha, she was hastily suspended. Now, there are reports that state machinery is being used to orchestrate her recall, raising serious questions about fairness and due process.

“What exactly is going on in this country?” the speaker asked passionately. “Are we so cheap that a handful of individuals can manipulate the system to silence one of the strongest voices in our party? This isn’t democracy—it’s a complete farce.”

The speaker went on to highlight the inconsistencies in the Senate’s actions, questioning the urgency and focus on Natasha amidst the country’s overwhelming challenges, including insecurity, corruption, and poverty.

“There’s a clear gang-up against her. Don’t the Senators targeting her have daughters? Is this really the most important issue on the table right now? The persecution is unjust and humiliating, and we will not stand by silently while she’s being targeted.”

The speaker also challenged the legality of the recent declaration of a state of emergency, criticizing the use of a voice vote rather than the constitutional requirement of a two-thirds majority—74 Senators and 240 Representatives—for such a decision. Commendation was given to Senators Tambuwal, Dickson, Abaribe, and others who opposed what was described as an “illegality and injustice.”

Furthermore, the speaker condemned the ongoing recall process, labeling it as a “shameful stage-managed drama” allegedly driven by the ruling APC and Senate leadership. The manner in which signatories were presented to INEC was particularly criticized: “How is INEC verifying all the names and details? People just carried bags of papers into INEC and it became an official record? This is pure manipulation and it will not stand.”

The government’s attempt to stop Natasha from visiting Kogi State also came under fire. “Despite their efforts, she went in a helicopter and was welcomed by a massive crowd. That’s why the government is embarrassed now,” the speaker remarked.

The situation, according to the speaker, reveals a disturbing shift in governance under Nigeria’s current presidential system. “This is worse than a military regime. What we’re witnessing isn’t democracy; it’s a warning sign of what to expect in 2027.”

On a broader level, the speaker drew attention to the tensions in Bayelsa State, where FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is reportedly planning to attend a political rally. The state government has advised him to stay away, citing security concerns. “With all the unrest in Rivers, why stir tension in Bayelsa? It’s reckless. The police in Kogi banned rallies over Natasha, yet in Bayelsa, Wike is allowed to create unrest. Is this a signal that the Federal Government is promoting lawlessness across the country?”

The statement ended with a stern warning that the people will not be silent in the face of injustice and politically motivated oppression.
