The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reassured Corps Members that their monthly allowance will be increased to ₦77,000, with the new payment structure taking effect from March 2025.
This confirmation was given by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, during an interactive session with Corps Members on Thursday. The event took place at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in Abuja, where various concerns, including the delay in implementing the allowance increment, were addressed.
Brigadier General Nafiu emphasized the Federal Government’s and NYSC’s dedication to the welfare of Corps Members, ensuring them that the new allowance will be disbursed as planned. “With effect from March, you will receive Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance. NYSC is efficient in record-keeping, and I assure you that your payments will be made. The nation and the Scheme appreciate you,” he stated.
The NYSC Director General also urged Corps Members to remain patient and committed to their national service, stressing that the scheme remains an integral platform for fostering national unity, patriotism, and teamwork. He commended the founding fathers of the NYSC for their vision and called on all relevant stakeholders to continue supporting the initiative.
During the session, Brigadier General Nafiu expressed his appreciation for the dedication of Corps Members in various parts of the country and reassured them of the government’s commitment to improving their welfare.
Speaking on behalf of her colleagues at the Garki Zone, NYSC member Zaka Deborah Alheri, with Call Number FC/24A/5831, extended gratitude to the Director General for his efforts in ensuring the long-awaited implementation of the new allowance.
The session served as an opportunity for the NYSC leadership to directly engage with Corps Members, address their concerns, and reaffirm its role in nation-building.
