Governor Ododo has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring food security in Kogi State. He emphasized that while the state fully supports the Federal Government’s intervention efforts, it will also expand its own quarterly food distribution program to reach more vulnerable households.
“No Kogi citizen should go to bed hungry under our watch,” the governor stated. He described the Food Outreach Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative as a timely and compassionate intervention that aligns with the state’s vision of alleviating economic hardship among its people.
The governor also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, assuring that Kogi State remains committed to the Federal Government’s economic recovery and social welfare programs.
Representing First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the event, Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, stressed the importance of ensuring the food items reach their intended beneficiaries.
She cautioned against reselling the supplies and encouraged recipients to use the assistance wisely to improve their well-being.
“This initiative is not just about food; it is about restoring dignity, giving hope, and providing relief to the most vulnerable among us,” she said.
Shettima highlighted that the RHI Food Outreach Programme has already benefited citizens across multiple states, with plans for further expansion.
She also noted other components of the initiative, including:Grants for People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs)Climate change awareness programs for studentsThe ‘Flow with Confidence’ initiative, which provides sanitary products to young girls in rural areas to support school attendance.
Kogi State First Lady and RHI State Coordinator, Safinat Ododo, commended the First Lady’s intervention, acknowledging its role in easing the burdens of the less privileged in the state.
She reaffirmed the commitment of Kogi women to national development and pledged to work closely with communities to address their needs effectively.
