Ngozi Orabueze, the deputy to the detained Finland-based self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the United States of Biafra Government in Exile (USB), Simon Ekpa, has announced a call for the recruitment of agitators into the Biafran security forces.
The announcement was made through a statement dated December 25, 2024, titled “Announcement of Conscription Call to Serve the United States of Biafra Security Forces.” The statement was jointly signed by Orabueze and an individual identified as Solomon N., who is referred to as the Secretary of Defence.
The recruitment drive is targeted at enlisting eligible individuals into various arms of the Biafran security structure, including the Biafra Defence Forces (BDF), Biafra Liberation Army (BLA), Biafra Navy, Biafra Airforce, and other specialized squads.
The statement emphasized the decentralization of the recruitment process, which would be carried out by state commanders, deputy commanders, state administrators, and special trainees. It outlined the purpose of the recruitment as an effort to strengthen Biafra’s armed forces against what they described as “reintegrated terrorists wearing Nigerian military and police uniforms.” According to the statement, this move is essential to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the newly declared United States of Biafra.
The statement read in part: “The USB, under Prime Minister Simon Ekpa and represented by the Chief of Staff/Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, hereby calls on all eligible Biafra citizens to join the Biafra Defence Forces, Biafra Liberation Army, Biafra Navy, Biafra Airforce, and special squads. Strengthening our armed forces is critical to safeguarding the sovereignty and geographical space of the United States of Biafra.”
Orabueze also shared the announcement via her official Twitter account on December 27, 2024, with a post that read: “Conscription/Recruitment of interested Biafrans into the Biafra Security, BLA, BDF, Airforce, Navy opened – USB Defence Secretary.”
This development marks another move by the USB to further its separatist agenda under Simon Ekpa’s leadership.
