In a remarkable Christmas gesture to civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved a N100,000 Christmas bonus for all eligible recipients. This initiative is aimed at ensuring a joyful and fulfilling festive season for beneficiaries and reflects the administration’s dedication to the well-being of its people.
The announcement was made by the Head of Civil Service, Rivers State, George Nwaeke, who emphasized that the bonus will be extended to workers across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as pensioners in both the civil and public service. This move marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time pensioners are included in the Christmas bonus payment.
George Nwaeke highlighted that Governor Fubara’s decision to approve the bonus underscores his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of Rivers State citizens. He noted that the Christmas bonus aligns with the governor’s “Rivers First mantra,” which prioritizes the well-being and happiness of residents across different sectors of the economy.
According to The Whistler, this marks the second consecutive year that civil servants in the state are receiving a Christmas bonus of N100,000, an amount that exceeds the national minimum wage. By extending this benefit to pensioners for the first time, Governor Fubara’s administration has further demonstrated its inclusive approach to governance.
Nwaeke added that the bonus payment is expected to bring immense relief and happiness to the beneficiaries, enabling them to celebrate the festive season comfortably with their families.
This initiative, he noted, is a testament to the government’s proactive measures to enhance the quality of life for its people and foster a more inclusive and supportive society.
