In a landmark decision delivered today, Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has definitively affirmed Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa as the authentic National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). This ruling brings an end to the prolonged leadership crisis that has plagued the party for years.
The apex court allowed the appeal filed by APGA and Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, rejecting claims made by Edozie Njoku, who had sought to manipulate a corrected judgment to position himself as the party’s leader. The court clarified that its corrected judgment did not declare Edozie Njoku as APGA’s National Chairman, contrary to his assertions.
In delivering the judgment, the Supreme Court imposed a ₦20 million cost against Edozie Njoku for what it described as a frivolous suit filed at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Bwari. The court strongly condemned Njoku’s attempts to twist judicial processes to serve his personal interests.
This decisive judgment cements Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa’s position as the validly elected National Chairman of APGA, restoring stability and unity within the party. By addressing and resolving the root cause of the leadership tussle, the Supreme Court’s verdict is expected to strengthen APGA and its administrative processes moving forward.
Today’s ruling is a significant victory for APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, and the rule of law as a tool in resolving political disputes.
