The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has commended the Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of APGA, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for his exemplary leadership and steadfast dedication to the development of Anambra State. This commendation followed the presentation of the 2025 budget proposal, titled “Changing Gears 2.0”, to the Anambra State House of Assembly earlier today.
The proposed budget, totaling ₦606.99 billion, marks a remarkable 48% increase compared to the previous year. Governor Soludo’s ambitious financial plan underscores his vision to accelerate development across critical sectors of the state. Notably, 77% of the budget is allocated to capital expenditure, while 23% is designated for recurrent expenditure. This allocation reflects a strong emphasis on infrastructure development, human capital enhancement, and economic transformation, all aimed at advancing Anambra’s journey toward becoming a livable, prosperous, and smart mega city.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tony Olisa Mbeki Ogbonna, Barrister Ezeokenwa highlighted the Governor’s strategic focus on education, youth empowerment, healthcare, infrastructure development, and urban renewal. He cited groundbreaking policies, such as the expansion of free education to Senior Secondary 3, the recruitment of over 10,000 teachers, and the creation of the Solution Innovation District, which positions Anambra as a hub for technological and entrepreneurial advancement. In healthcare, notable achievements include the completion of 326 primary healthcare centers and the establishment of new general hospitals across the state.
Infrastructure development also stands out in the Governor’s agenda, with ongoing construction of over 540 kilometers of roads, iconic flyovers, bridges, and dualized Trunk A roads. These projects aim to strengthen economic connectivity and promote sustainable growth within and beyond the state.
The APGA National Chairman further applauded Governor Soludo’s efforts in driving economic transformation through key initiatives such as the palm and coconut revolution, the establishment of industrial hubs, and forging strategic partnerships with international organizations like the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Additionally, the Governor’s urban renewal projects, including the Solution Fun City, the 10-storey Marriott Hotel, and the Awka City Leisure and Entertainment Park, were lauded for their potential to elevate Anambra’s status as a leading regional economic and cultural destination.
Ezeokenwa also praised the Governor’s prudent financial management, which has positioned Anambra State as a model for transparency and sustainability in governance. He called on all stakeholders, particularly members of the Anambra State House of Assembly, to support the Governor’s transformative initiatives, describing them as a clear testament to APGA’s vision for inclusive growth and development.
Reaffirming APGA’s commitment to progressive governance, the National Chairman commended Governor Soludo’s resolve to deliver tangible democratic dividends to Ndi Anambra despite prevailing economic challenges.
He urged the people of Anambra to remain united and unwavering in their support for the Governor’s efforts to solidify the gains of the Solution Agenda, ensuring the continued transformation and progress of the state.
