The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has achieved a sweeping victory in the recently concluded local government elections in Zamfara State, securing all 14 chairmanship positions and every councillorship seat in the state.
The Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), Bala Aliyu, announced the results early Sunday morning. Addressing journalists after the collation of results in Gusau, he declared the PDP candidates as winners across all Local Government Areas (LGAs), including Gusau, Kaura-Namoda, Maru, Talata Mafara, Anka, and others.
Aliyu commended the peaceful and credible conduct of the elections, describing them as free and fair. He attributed the smooth execution of the exercise to the collaborative efforts of security agencies, election officials, and the electorate, who ensured the process was devoid of disruptions.
Wadatau Madawaki, who represented the PDP at the collation center, expressed his delight over the results. He described the overwhelming victory as a clear testament to the people’s confidence in the PDP’s leadership and its vision for Zamfara State.
He further called on the newly elected chairmen to align with Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission, emphasizing the need to contribute meaningfully to the development and progress of the state.
Independent observers who monitored the elections also commended the process, noting the generally peaceful environment in which the polls were conducted. They highlighted the improved security measures as a key factor in ensuring a smooth and successful electoral exercise.
