Chief Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor, the Managing Director and CEO of Stelconic Properties Limited, has urged elected officials across Nigeria to set aside party politics and focus on delivering the real benefits of democracy to all citizens.
Speaking to NewdayReporters on Tuesday about the state of the nation, Chief Orjiakor highlighted the need for leaders to serve beyond partisan interests.
Chief Orjiakor said that one of the major challenges hindering effective leadership in Nigeria is the tendency for elected officials to neglect their broader responsibilities once in office. Instead of prioritizing the needs of the general public, many leaders often cater mainly to party affiliates and supporters, leaving a majority of citizens underserved.
According to him, this approach creates divisions and limits the reach of government initiatives that should benefit all.
“Our elected officials must move beyond party politics,” Chief Orjiakor stated. “They must focus on delivering true dividends of democracy and elevating their performance. Leadership should not be about which political party one supported during elections.
“Leaders must concentrate on empowering young people, providing essential services, and ensuring everyone has access to basic amenities.”
He continued, emphasizing that elected officials hold the responsibility of providing every Nigerian with a better quality of life. He argued that after elections, it is essential for leaders to set aside partisan views, drop party politics, and dedicate themselves to the true purpose of their roles which is serving the people.
“Our leaders must strive to uplift citizens’ lives and meet their needs,” Chief Orjiakor added. “That’s the measure of genuine leadership.”
Chief Orjiakor took the opportunity to recognize the support that the Onwa Nibo Chukwugoziri Movement, his philanthropic initiative, has received from the public. He promised to continue his outreach to the poor and vulnerable through the movement, reiterating that youth empowerment remains a core objective of the organization.
He also expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support and prayers from the public, adding that he is committed to expanding his charitable efforts to benefit more Nigerians.
