BREAKING: Governor Fubara Approves N85,000 Minimum Wage For Civil Servants In Rivers

The Rivers State Government has officially approved a new minimum wage of N85,000 for civil servants. This decision was confirmed by the Head of Service, George Nwaeke, after Governor Siminalayi Fubara gave his approval during a closed-door meeting held with labour leaders and senior government officials.

Nwaeke further announced that the implementation of the new minimum wage will commence immediately, marking a significant step towards improving the welfare of workers in the state.

The Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Team, Chukwu Emecheta, commended Governor Fubara for fulfilling the expectations of Rivers State workers. He expressed gratitude for the Governor’s dedication to enhancing the livelihoods of civil servants.

Similarly, Alex Agwanwor, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Rivers State, lauded the approval, noting that the increased wage would significantly help alleviate the economic challenges faced by workers in the state.
