The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to reassess its policies and alleviate the economic difficulties Nigerians are facing. The PDP’s appeal was made during a Board of Trustees meeting held on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
In a statement signed by Senator Adolphus Wubara, the PDP urged the APC to take action to address the economic hardship affecting citizens.
In response, the APC, through its Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, rejected any possibility of a policy reversal, calling on the opposition party to support the government in delivering on President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust, Ibrahim emphasized that the PDP was responsible for the severe economic challenges Nigeria faced, claiming that the country had been “bleeding heavily” due to the PDP’s mismanagement before the APC took over leadership in 2015.
Ibrahim further stated that Nigerians are now beginning to understand what the APC’s “change” slogan truly means, and emphasized that the party has no intention of imposing any policies that would harm democracy.
According to him, the APC, as a progressive party, aims to implement changes that will bring the benefits of democracy to the people.
He acknowledged the importance of having an opposition for a healthy democracy but urged the PDP to be constructive in its criticism rather than destructive.
