The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has urged both the Federal and state governments to increase their efforts in alleviating the adverse effects of recent economic policies on the Nigerian populace. He called on the leadership to work diligently to restore economic stability and security in the lives of the people. His statement was made alongside his warm congratulations to Nigerians as the country marks its 64th Independence Day Anniversary.
In a message signed by his spokesperson, Dr. Tony Olisa Mbeki Ogbonna, Ezeokenwa praised the resilience, strength, and unity of Nigerians. He recognized the nation’s journey toward development, despite the challenges it has faced. He noted that this Independence Day is not just a time for celebration but also an opportunity to reflect on the progress made since Nigeria gained independence in 1960.
“As we celebrate this important occasion, we must honor the sacrifices of our founding fathers who fought for our freedom and laid the foundation for today’s Nigeria. Their bravery and vision continue to inspire us as we strive together to build a stronger, more united, and prosperous nation,” he said.
The APGA Chairman reaffirmed his party’s dedication to promoting good governance, national unity, and socio-economic development in Nigeria. He called on all Nigerians to embrace peace, tolerance, and patriotism, emphasizing that the country’s progress depends on the collective efforts of all citizens.
“As Nigerians, we must uphold the principles of democracy, justice, and fairness. We must remain committed to the vision of a better Nigeria for future generations. APGA is committed to these values and will continue to advocate for policies that prioritize the welfare of the people,” he added.
In response to the current economic and security challenges, Ezeokenwa used the occasion to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state governors to address these pressing issues urgently. He emphasized the need for swift action to ease the hardship caused by recent federal policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies, which has contributed to rising inflation and placed immense pressure on ordinary citizens.
“We are fully aware of the difficulties Nigerians are enduring due to these recent economic policies. It is crucial that both the Federal and state governments intensify their efforts to mitigate the impact, ensuring that the people regain economic stability and security in their daily lives,” Ezeokenwa stressed.
Although acknowledging the challenges of the present moment, he expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future. He emphasized that with continued efforts in nation-building and a shared sense of purpose, the country will overcome its current difficulties and realize its full potential.
He concluded his message by encouraging Nigerians to celebrate the Independence Day with hope and a renewed commitment to unity and progress. Ezeokenwa assured the public that APGA will continue to play a significant role in shaping a better future for Nigeria.
