Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), declared that the persecution faced by the Igbo people in Nigeria will end with him.
He emphasized that this ongoing trend cannot persist, stating that it is his mission to advocate for the freedom of the Igbo community. Kanu made these remarks during the latest hearing of his trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said, “This persecution of the Igbo people in Nigeria, this almost globally orchestrated persecution, stops with me. It can never happen again. I am campaigning for the freedom of my people, and that is as straightforward as it gets.”
Earlier reports from NewdayReporters confirmed that Justice Binta Nyako announced her intention to withdraw from Kanu’s trial. This announcement followed Kanu’s statement about losing confidence in the court’s proceedings and his request for the presiding judge to recuse herself from the case.
