HAPPENING NOW: Police Nab Alleged Serial Killer Who Murdered Ogun Varsity Student, Christianah Ayomide Adeleye

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed on Thursday the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect, Ayomide Adeleye, in connection with the brutal murder of Idowu Christianah. The victim, a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State, was reportedly abducted along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos in August.

Adeleye, a 200-level Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ogun State, is alleged to have been involved in Christianah’s abduction and subsequent murder. This shocking incident has sparked outrage on social media, with netizens trending the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah on X (formerly Twitter), demanding swift prosecution of the suspect.

Several users also raised suspicions that Adeleye may have been involved in the mysterious deaths of his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his biological sister in 2020, both of which allegedly occurred under similar circumstances.

In response to the public outcry, Lagos State Police Spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed Adeleye’s arrest in a statement issued on X. He shared an image of the suspect in handcuffs, stating that Adeleye had been handed over to the Lagos State Police by the Nigerian Army earlier that day.

Hundeyin explained that the handover took place on September 5, 2024, around 2:00 PM, after Adeleye was transferred from the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army. He further added that the police have begun an in-depth investigation into the case, promising that more details will be revealed as the investigation unfolds.

The police spokesperson posted on X, “23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to @LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade @HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing.”
