Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for civil servants employed by the state government.
The announcement was made on Saturday during the grand finale of the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival 2024. Governor Nwifuru stated that he has instructed the relevant government bodies to develop a plan for implementing the new minimum wage, which is set to begin in September.

He specifically highlighted the poor handling of the housing estate projects located in Izo Autonomous Community, Ishielu Local Government Area.
