The headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State is currently engulfed in flames. The party’s secretariat was set ablaze amid violent protests triggered by widespread hunger in the region.
Agitated youths stormed the facility located in Dutse, the state capital. They destroyed billboards and other publicity materials before setting the building on fire.
Additionally, vehicles parked within the premises were also torched.
The violence quickly spread to other parts of the state. In Birnin Kudu, armed youths caused injuries to several individuals while vandalizing and looting the State Fertilizer Store and Grains Store.
The store of the state Agricultural Supply Company (JASCO) in Gumel also came under attack.
The mob didn’t stop there; they targeted the residence of the House of Representatives member representing Gumel, Gagarawa, and Maigarati, as well as the home of the APC Zonal Vice Chairman. Despite efforts by security operatives to contain the situation, the unrest continued to escalate.
