Fuel Price Hits N1,300 Per Litre, Nigerians Groan Over Increasing Hardship
Fuel scarcity has worsened in various states across Nigeria, including Lagos, Ogun, Abuja, Niger, and others.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) attributed the shortage to a hitch in the discharge operations of a couple of vessels.
Despite the NNPC’s assurance to resolve the situation, the scarcity persists, with many depots dry and no loading of trucks. Black marketers are exploiting the situation, selling fuel at exorbitant prices, up to N1,500 per liter in some areas.
Oil marketers and depot operators confirm the shortage, citing low stock levels and difficulties in getting fuel from the NNPC.
The situation has led to long queues at filling stations, with some selling fuel at higher prices, up to N800 per liter.
The scarcity has also affected transportation, with commuters facing increased fares and longer travel times.
The NNPC has not provided a timeline for when the situation will improve.
