UNIZIK: I Am Still The SUG President, Disregard Purported Impeachment, It Is Unconstitutional, Gross Miscarriage Of Justice, Malicious Ploy To Dent My Leadership – Comr. Izuchukwu Francis Ejikeme Fumes
Comrade Izuchukwu Francis Ejikeme has urged the student community at Nnamdi Azikiwe University to disregard the news of his impeachment earlier today.
In an interview with Newday Reporters, Comr. Izuchukwu stated that the impeachment is invalid as it is unconstitutional.
In his counter-statement, Comr. Izuchukwu, widely known as IFE, claimed that the impeachment did not follow due process and was a deliberate attempt to undermine his leadership.
He emphasized that the impeachment process breached Section 86(2) of the university’s Student Union Government (SUG) constitution, which outlines the correct procedure for impeaching Executive Council Members.
He also noted that the meeting where the impeachment supposedly took place lacked the necessary quorum, with only four Executive members present. This, he argued, is a clear violation of Section 86(2)(b) of the SUG constitution, rendering any decisions made at the meeting null and void.
The SUG President’s impeachment comes after a week of political turmoil at the university, following the removal of the former Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ikechebelu, amidst heavy security last week.
The fate of Comr. Izuchukwu Francis Ejikeme remains uncertain as he battles both his new political adversaries in the Union and the emerging political dynamics at the university.

Notice of impeachment of Comr. Izuchukwu Ejikeme Francis as SUG President disregard for due process and a malicious ploy to undermine my leadership
I, Izuchukwu Ejikeme Francis ife, Write to express my strongest objection to the purported impeachment attempt against me. This attempt is a gross miscarriage of justice, a blatant disregard for due process and a malicious ploy to undermine my leadership
Specifically, the impeachment process violated section 86 (2) of the SUG constitution, which states the due procedure for impeachment Executive Council Members.
Firstly, the meeting where this impeachment was allegedly discussed lacked quorum with only 4 members present. This is a clear Violation of sec 86(2) (b) of the SUG Constitution and therefore render any decisions made null and void.
Secondly, I was not afforded a fair hearing and no investigation was conducted into the baseless, frivolous and unfounded allegations made against me. This is a Fundamental breach of natural justice and principles of fairness.
Thirdly, the issue of impeachment was never raised during the meeting i attended, and i was not given opportunity to defend myself .This is a clear indication that the impeachment attempt is premeditated and orchestrated move by a few memeber of the student’s Representative Council to destabilize the union and breach the peace of the university which i have tirelessly worked for .
I also strongly deny the false and misleading allegations of abduction made against me. This claim is entirely unfounded and nothing more than malicious and defamatory attempt to tarnish my reputation .
