HAPPENING NOW: Rivers State Assembly Members Loyal To Wike Gives Fubara 7 Days Ultimatum To Re-Present 2024 Budget

The Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Martin Amaewhule, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, demanding that he re-present the 2024 budget to the Assembly.

This directive came during the first session of the pro-Wike faction of the House, which had not convened for several months.

Concurrently, a parallel session is being held by another faction of the Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.

Previously, Governor Fubara had presented the budget to a faction of the House loyal to him, with his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, acting as the Speaker at that time.

This pro-Fubara faction subsequently passed the budget estimates, and the governor signed the bill into law.

Governor Fubara has stated that the budget is designed to foster economic development, ensure inclusive growth, and tackle socio-economic disparities within the state.
