BREAKING: Power Grid Collapses Again, The Fourth Time In 2024

Nigeria’s power grid has experienced another collapse, leaving the country generating only 0.80 megawatts of electricity, according to a report by Daily Trust.

The Independent System Operator, an autonomous division of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), indicated on its website that the power plant contributions to the grid began to decline around 2 p.m.

The output fell from an average of 3,417.99 megawatts at 1 p.m. to 2,797.16 megawatts at 2 p.m.

The decline continued, dropping to 1,020.08 megawatts by 3 p.m. before plummeting dramatically to just 0.80 megawatts by 4 p.m.

NewdayReporters noted that the minimal 0.80 megawatts of electricity was generated by the Trans-Amadi Power Plant.

This incident marks the fourth power grid collapse in Nigeria in 2024.
