Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu for the success of his administration.
Tinubu, who took office last May, faced criticism after his government ended the fuel subsidy on petroleum, leading to a significant increase in the cost of living and causing widespread hardship among the populace.
During the inauguration of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, Senator Akpabio expressed confidence that with citizens’ backing, Tinubu’s government would triumph.
Akpabio stated, “I firmly believe that by the end of President Tinubu’s tenure, seven years from now, both the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria will have transformed beyond recognition.”
He emphasized the importance of continued prayers and hope, assuring that the current challenges would eventually be resolved.
The inauguration of the Kugbo Bus Terminal, according to Akpabio, demonstrates the government’s dedication to the welfare of FCT residents.
He described the project as another significant achievement of President Tinubu’s administration, aimed at addressing the needs of the area’s councils, residents, and visitors.
Akpabio also praised Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the FCT. He lauded the President’s ability to select capable individuals, noting that Wike was a perfect fit for the role.
The project, he said, would serve as a hub to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance security, among other benefits. He cited Tinubu’s success in transforming Lagos into one of Africa’s leading economies as an example of his capability.
Minister Nyesom Wike, speaking earlier, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the National Assembly for their support. He assured FCT residents that no projects would be abandoned under his watch, marking an end to the era of incomplete initiatives.
Wike acknowledged the rising insecurity in the FCT, particularly the surge in kidnappings, and highlighted the bus terminal’s role in mitigating these issues.
Wike explained that the terminal would provide reliable and identifiable transportation, ensuring safe travel for residents regardless of weather conditions.
He argued that the organized system would reduce the prevalence of kidnappers using private cars, thereby enhancing overall security in the area.
