JUST IN: Tinubu Welcomes 103 Nigerians Deported From Turkey

The Federal Government has received at least 103 Nigerians who were deported from Turkey due to various migration-related issues, including expired visas and irregular migration.

Alhaji Tijani Ahmed, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), announced this during the deportees’ profiling event in Abuja on Friday.

Ahmed was represented by Amb. Catherine Udida, the Director of Migration Affairs at the commission. He noted that although they had expected 110 deportees, they ultimately received 103, all of whom were males.

“Some of these individuals have been held in deportation camps for several months. Now that they are back in Nigeria, we plan to investigate the various allegations documented during their profiling. We will review their profiling forms, particularly the claims that some of their passports were seized.

We intend to follow up with the Turkish authorities to address this issue, as these passports remain the property of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ahmed stated.

He emphasized that the NCFRMI is the designated agency responsible for handling all returnees, regardless of their status.

Ahmed also highlighted a program run by the commission, which provides training and subsequent reintegration into society for the returnees.
