Ginger Onwusibe, the representative for Isialangwa North and South constituency in Abia State at the National Assembly, has distributed cassava stems, yams, and other seedlings to his constituents.

Onwusibe, who is affiliated with the Labour Party, announced this initiative on his verified Facebook page to mark his first anniversary in office.

The lawmaker explained that his motivation was to encourage his constituents to return to farming. He stated, “Today, at the Amassa Ntigha Mini Stadium, which I personally built, we provided training to over 600 constituents from Umuoha, Ngwa Ukwu, and Ntigha wards of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government.”

“We trained them in modern agricultural practices and distributed improved seedlings, including palm, tomatoes, peppers, okra, cucumbers, maize, yams, and cassava stems. Additionally, they received fertilizer to support their farming efforts.”

Onwusibe emphasized that these improved seedlings and stems were sourced from outside the constituency.

“The purpose of this program is to encourage our people to return to farming and to integrate these improved seedlings and stems within our constituency.”

He assessed the program as successful, noting the participants’ satisfaction. “Our goal is to reach 2,000 participants in Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Governments,” he added.
