The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the temporary closure of the registration portal for Batch B prospective corps members.
This decision came after a technical glitch occurred on Saturday, June 8, resulting in the portal reaching its maximum registration capacity for the incoming batch.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, explained that the portal was shut down after the number of registrations met the capacity limits of the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps across the country.
He expressed regret to those prospective corps members who were unable to complete their registration before the closure and assured them that the portal will be reopened for Batch B Stream II registrations at a later date, which will be announced in due course.
Megwa also addressed the circulation of a fraudulent press release online, which falsely claimed that the registration deadline had been extended.
He emphasized that such information was not authorized and warned that anyone caught disseminating false information about NYSC operations would face prosecution by law enforcement agencies.
In his statement, Megwa said, “The management of NYSC wishes to inform prospective corps members that the registration portal was shut down due to a glitch that occurred on Saturday, 8th June, 2024.
Registration by prospective corps members continued until the maximum number required for the incoming batch was reached, in line with the carrying capacity of the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide. The portal was subsequently shut down accordingly.
We apologize to prospective corps members who could not register before the portal was shut down. The portal will reopen for 2024 Batch B Stream II on a date to be announced later.
Criminally-minded individuals who have the penchant of issuing fake press releases on NYSC operations are warned to desist forthwith, as anyone caught will be handed over to law enforcement agents for prosecution.
Online reporters and bloggers are please expected to confirm the authenticity of issues with NYSC before publishing.”
