La Liga club Real Madrid has officially signed French forward Kylian Mbappe on a long-term contract following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The announcement was made by Real Madrid on Monday evening, and it caused the club’s official website to crash within seconds due to the overwhelming number of fans trying to access the site.

In addition, the club shared a three-minute highlight reel of Mbappe on social media. He is expected to be presented at the Santiago Bernabeu shortly.

The 25-year-old World Cup winner signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid on Sunday, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029. Mbappe’s annual salary will be €15 million.

Furthermore, he will receive a signing-on bonus of €150 million, which will be distributed over the duration of his contract. He will also retain a portion of his image rights, according to a report by the BBC.

Expressing his joy on social media, Mbappe stated, “A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams, Real Madrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”
