Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has provided an explanation for the decision to reduce the wage award for civil servants from N35,000 to N15,000.
According to a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor stated that the reduction was necessary to ensure that there were sufficient resources available to extend the wage award to workers in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Governor Aiyedatiwa indicated that the decision followed his recent approval of a N35,000 monthly wage award for employees of state-owned tertiary institutions.
The statement clarified that this wage award would be implemented over a six-month period.
The governor’s approval came after a meeting held last week with the heads of tertiary institutions and the leaders of the workers from these institutions. During this meeting, the specifics of the wage award were discussed and finalized.
