Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has shared 20 Toyota Prado Sports Utility Vehicles to judges within the state. Additionally, the state government inaugurated the newly completed Delta State High Court Complex in Asaba, the state’s capital.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan, who officiated the inauguration of the complex on Tuesday, praised Governor Oborevwori for his efforts in infrastructure development within Delta State.
Jonathan remarked, “There are certain projects that are crucial to the growth and development of the state, and it is important for any succeeding government to continue these projects, which you are doing.
I believe that if you survey the country today, this stands as one of the finest judiciary headquarters, and I congratulate the governor and the judiciary of Delta State for this exemplary project.”
Jonathan also commended Oborevwori for his integrity, noting that while serving as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Oborevwori returned over N500 million in unutilized funds to the state treasury.
“It is not common for a public official or even a civil servant to refund money to the government; it is quite challenging. However, as a Speaker, you managed to do this, showcasing a high level of integrity and trustworthiness,” Jonathan stated. He urged Oborevwori to continue managing the state’s resources effectively for the benefit of the people.
Jonathan encouraged the residents of Delta State to support Governor Oborevwori, warning against politically motivated attempts to undermine the government.
“Some individuals believe in bringing down a government for political reasons, but doing so undermines the state or country as a whole.
The governor or president oversees public resources, and it is essential for everyone to support them to ensure success and national growth,” he emphasized.
Governor Oborevwori explained that the distribution of 20 Toyota Prado SUVs to judges was a promise fulfilled, and that completing the High Court building was part of his commitment to finishing projects inherited from previous administrations. He was motivated to complete the project because the judiciary was the only branch of government lacking a suitable building for its operations.
Oborevwori expressed gratitude to Jonathan for inaugurating the project, lauding him as a distinguished Nigerian patriot, statesman, and leader.
Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Chief Justice of Nigeria, represented by Justice Bolaji Yusuf, Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeal, Asaba Division, commended the state government for the new project.
