Unlike The Norm, Tinubu Won’t Make National Broadcast To Celebrate First Anniversary — Presidency Informs Nigerians

In an unexpected move, the Presidency announced on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu will not be delivering a nationwide broadcast on Wednesday to mark his first year in office as Nigeria’s President.

Instead, President Tinubu will address a joint session of the National Assembly to commemorate 25 years of Nigeria’s democratic progress at both the executive and legislative levels.

This announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Onanuga stated that President Tinubu’s upcoming address to the combined assembly will focus on the achievements of his administration and the nation’s democratic journey since the military handed over power in 1999.

He further detailed the event’s program, noting that several notable figures will speak before President Tinubu. These include former Senate President David Mark, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and former military ruler General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who transitioned power to a civilian government in 1999.

Additionally, Onanuga announced that after the speeches, President Tinubu will officially inaugurate the National Assembly Library and Resource Centre, which has been renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Building.
