Stop Dressing Half Naked, Nudity Is Not Beauty – Tinubu’s Wife To Nigerian Girls

First lady Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday in Abuja, celebrated the dedication and milestone achievements of women in the long history of Nigeria, exhorting Nigerian girls not to dress provocatively.

Mrs Oluremi gave this commendation during her address at the celebration of Nigerian women with the theme ‘Looking Forward’.

The event is in commemoration of the first anniversary of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

“I am delighted to celebrate you all, the mothers of our great nation. The achievements of our women in all sectors of the economy are highly commendable.

“As of the first quarter of 2024, we had 11 women chief executive officers in the banking industry, several women CEO’s in tech, seven female ministers and seven female deputy Governors.

“We celebrate all our many firsts who have blazed the trail, from the legislature to the judiciary, executive and private sector.’’

According to the first lady, though the president has ordered a low celebration, she has pleaded for the mothers to be celebrated.

“I believe the nation is not in mourning but we are on our way to our destination.

“This event has been specially put together to recognise the contributions you have all made in your various spheres of life, in your communities and in the nation at large.

“Gathered here today are women from across all sectors of our society who have individually and collectively contributed to the development of our great nation.

“Every woman, irrespective of age, is a mother, a nurturer, a builder and the foundation on which our families, communities and institutions thrive,’’ she said.

She also commended the elders and young mothers, while urging women to train the young ones to stop walking naked on the streets.

“We are beautiful without being naked; our girls need to be taught how to embrace our culture because we all have sources.

“Among us here are women who have and continue to provide much-needed love, care and support in their homes.

“The sacrifices you make may often go unrecognised, especially when balancing your careers and household responsibilities.

“However, you remain unwavering in your dedication to your families and communities, I celebrate you all.’’

The wife of the vice president, Nana Shettima, commended the first lady and her husband for their good deeds and leadership roles for a greater nation.

She said, “Above all, no matter what, let us keep our differences aside for the benefit of all.

“To the wives of the governors of different states, please get closer to our mother, Mrs Tinubu; seek for her advice, I don’t know how to appreciate her for being a good role model; her zeal and passion is immense.

Another speaker, Victoria Gowon, the wife of Former Head of Military Administrator, Rt. Gen. Yakubu Gowon, advised women to be united.

Dame Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, advised women to support the current administration and women in leadership positions.

She further said that the nation would one day provide a woman president if women were united.

Another elder state-woman, Prof. Nike Akande, commended Mr Tinubu for his impacts, adding that the administration has been projecting the nation’s economy in a positive direction for stability.

“The bold steps of Mr President in the last one year is inevitable. However, I plead for more support for our president in order for our nation to achieve more success.

Onyeka Onwenu, who entertained the audience with her song tittled “One Love”, also urged all women to show love to one another.
