Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has raised concerns regarding the judge who issued a ruling to halt the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano, stating that the judge is currently in the United States.
Sanusi was reinstated on Thursday, four years after being dethroned, following Governor Yusuf’s approval of the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024.
Subsequently, a Federal High Court in Kano issued an ex-parte order preventing the governor from reinstating Sanusi II.
However, during the presentation of Sanusi’s appointment letter on Friday, Governor Yusuf, speaking in Hausa, addressed the court order that blocked him from dissolving the Kano Emirates created by the previous administration.
Governor Yusuf argued that the judge, who was out of the country, lacked the authority to overturn the actions taken by the state assembly, which he insisted followed due process.
