A tragic incident unfolded in Delta State’s Udu Local Government Area, near the Harbour Market, where a young woman met a dreadful fate.
According to reports, she was a passenger in a commercial tricycle, known locally as a keke, when armed assailants targeted the vehicle.
The perpetrators, allegedly gunmen, robbed her of her belongings within the keke and callously pushed her out while the vehicle was in motion.
The forceful ejection caused her to collide with the pavement, resulting in severe head injuries.
Good-hearted bystanders rushed to her aid and attempted to transport her to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
However, they encountered a distressing obstacle: hospitals required a doctor’s report before administering treatment. This bureaucratic requirement left the Samaritans with no recourse but to return the injured woman to the site of the incident.
Despite attempts to obtain official comments on the matter, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, remained unreachable, failing to respond to multiple phone calls and a WhatsApp message seeking clarification on the incident.
