Nothing In Katsina Shows That They Produced A President For Eight Years, Buhari Failed The North – Usman Yusuf

Prof Usman Yusuf, a member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari for neglecting his home state of Katsina during his eight-year tenure.

Speaking on a Channels Television program on Sunday, Yusuf pointed out that while Buhari’s administration executed significant projects in various parts of Nigeria, it failed to deliver any meaningful developments in the North West zone.

Yusuf, who previously served as the Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), argued that despite the northern region having substantial representation in Buhari’s government, there were no tangible results to show for it.

He specifically mentioned the incomplete Abuja-Kano highway as an example of the administration’s shortcomings in the region.

He emphasized, “The chief of staff was the one who pushed for the creation of the NEDC. Now, there is a Vice President, National Security Adviser, and others from the north.

What are they doing to address this issue? But we complain in the North West that we had a president that we never got anything from.”

Yusuf lamented that in Katsina, his home state, there are no visible signs of development attributable to Buhari’s presidency.

He challenged the former president to identify any significant achievements in the North West, stating, “Go to Katsina today where I come from, there is nothing to show we had a president for eight years. In the North West, let him tell us what he has done.”

Furthermore, Yusuf criticized the governors of the northern region, holding them responsible for the region’s lack of development.
