Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has inaugurated newly constructed and fully furnished two blocks of 24 classrooms at Basic Education Primary School, Rafin Guza, the second most populous primary school in Kaduna State.
This school has a student population of 7,326, ranking just behind Basic Education Primary School, Lokoja Road, Rigasa in the Igabi Local Government Area.
The commissioning of the two-storey classroom blocks was part of the activities marking Governor Sani’s one-year anniversary in office.
Represented by his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, the governor highlighted that his administration has built 2,326 new classrooms in the past 12 months, which now accommodate 93,040 pupils.
In a related event, Governor Sani, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Sani Liman Kila, also inaugurated a two-storey block of 12 classrooms at Basic Education School, Maraban Jos, in the Igabi Local Government Area.
Governor Sani emphasized the significance of education as the foundation of a prosperous society and reiterated his administration’s dedication to providing a conducive learning environment for every child in Kaduna State.
He noted the administration’s commitment to renovating dilapidated classrooms and enhancing teacher skills to improve human capital outcomes in the state.
He stated, “Education has the power to elevate individuals’ statuses and economic opportunities, and it remains a beacon of hope and progress, particularly for marginalized communities.
In Kaduna State, education is a right for every child, not a privilege for a select few. Under Senator Uba Sani’s leadership, we are committed to safeguarding educational opportunities for all.”
Governor Sani also highlighted the administration’s achievements in primary education, noting that 2,326 new classrooms have been constructed, accommodating 93,040 pupils.
Additionally, 30,742 two-seater desks have been provided, seating a total of 61,484 pupils, ensuring comfortable and dignified learning conditions. The schools are also equipped with hygienic toilets and hand pumps for potable drinking water, reflecting a commitment to holistic and healthy learning environments.
The commissioning ceremony, Governor Sani said, was more than just the inauguration of new buildings.
It was a celebration of a shared vision for a future where every child can reach their full potential through education, which breaks down barriers and paves the way for a brighter future.
In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Malam Tijjani Abdullahi, represented by Mubarak Mohammed, the Board’s Permanent Member for Project Management, praised the remarkable progress in providing access to quality education under Governor Sani’s administration.
Abdullahi noted that Basic Education Primary School, Rafin Guza, is one of the largest schools in terms of population, with 7,160 enrolled students and 52 classrooms.
This was a key reason for the construction of an additional 24 classrooms to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
