Truth Be Told, One Year Too Small, Not Enough To Judge Tinubu’s Govt – Bishop Kukah

Right Reverend Matthew Kukah, the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese and Founder of the Kukah Centre, recently met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

They discussed an upcoming event organized by the Kukah Centre focusing on national cohesion. After the meeting, Bishop Kukah addressed State House Correspondents, emphasizing that it’s premature to pass judgment on President Tinubu’s government after just one year in office.

He acknowledged that while the government is working to address the country’s numerous challenges, Nigerians need a clear timeline on when they can expect to see improvements in their socio-economic conditions.

Bishop Kukah highlighted the widespread suffering experienced by Nigerians, which he attributed to certain policy decisions.

He stressed the government’s responsibility to ensure the welfare and security of its citizens, stating that building a better society is a gradual process that requires time and commitment.

He emphasized the importance of effective communication from the government to provide Nigerians with a sense of when they can expect relief from their current hardships.

Regarding the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, Bishop Kukah expressed confidence that the involved parties, Governor Nyesom Wike and his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, would resolve their differences.

He noted that while ordinary citizens are concerned about the situation, politicians have a history of resolving their disputes. Bishop Kukah, who has a longstanding association with Rivers State, expressed hope that the state would soon overcome its challenges and play a significant role in Nigeria’s development.
