Public affairs analyst, Sam Amadi, issued a warning to Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasizing that Obi cannot secure victory without the support of his followers, referred to as the “ObiDients.”
Amadi highlighted the significance of this support, stating that the “ObiDients” are individuals who are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs and are eager for change.
He stressed that without their unwavering support, Obi’s chances of winning the election would be slim. Amadi’s warning coincided with discussions of a potential merger ahead of the 2027 polls.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has been engaging in strategic meetings with key political figures, fueling speculation about a possible coalition for the 2027 elections.
Recently, Obi met with former Vice President and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at his residence in Abuja.
Additionally, he held separate meetings with ex-Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and former Foreign Affairs Minister, Ibrahim Lamido.
In response to these meetings, the Labour Party emphasized that the discussions were aimed at addressing the current challenges facing Nigerians.
However, Sam Amadi’s warning underscores the critical importance of securing the support of the “ObiDients” for any chance of success in the upcoming elections.
Amadi cautioned that without their support, even a potential merger would not guarantee victory against the incumbent party, stressing that the political landscape had evolved significantly since 2015.
