In a recent event at Ogu town in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, the immediate past governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, apologized to the people of Rivers State.
He expressed regret for endorsing Governor Siminalayi Fubara as his successor, emphasizing that he never asked anyone to worship him to gain power.
During a thanksgiving ceremony honoring George Sekibo for his 20 years of service in the National Assembly and 36 years in public service, Wike acknowledged the importance of showing appreciation to those who contribute to one’s success.
He stressed that while he never demanded worship, it is essential to acknowledge and be grateful to those who support and elevate us.
Wike admitted to making mistakes, stating, “I am a human being. I am bound to make a mistake. My judgment can be wrong. So, forgive me for making a wrong judgment.”
He reassured Arnold, the lawmaker representing Ogu/Bolo constituency, that he would not be removed from his position.
Addressing his detractors, Wike confidently asserted, “When you are in charge, you are in charge. So, don’t worry,” indicating his firm grip on power. He urged the people of Ogu/Bolo to ignore the criticisms directed at them and assured them of victory.
Furthermore, Wike emphasized his commitment to peace and due process, promising to handle those he described as “buccaneers.” He criticized politicians who make excuses for not fulfilling their promises and pointed out the importance of maintaining peace and following the law.
