JUST NOW: Benue Governor Rev Fr Alia To Launch State Own Security Outfit

During a Stakeholders Meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Government House in Makurdi, Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia of Benue State announced the imminent launch of a local security outfit comprising ten thousand youths.

This initiative aims to complement the efforts of existing security agencies in addressing the security challenges facing the state.

Governor Alia emphasized that the new security outfit would play a crucial role in securing Benue communities, ensuring that farmers can access their farmlands without fear.

To support this initiative, the state government is in the process of procuring Hilux vans and motorcycles, which will be utilized by the security outfit to reach even the most remote areas of the state.

Acknowledging the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies in securing both the country and the state, Governor Alia highlighted the importance of the state-owned security outfit in maintaining peace and security.

He also mentioned that despite efforts by some adversaries to destabilize the state by inviting unknown gunmen, the government has successfully repelled these threats, pushing the invaders back and ensuring the safety of Benue’s residents.

However, Governor Alia acknowledged that certain local government areas, including Kwande, Ukum, Logo, Gwer East, Gwer West, Guma, Apa, and Agatu, are still experiencing attacks.

Nevertheless, he assured stakeholders that the state government remains committed to ensuring the safety of all its residents and will continue its efforts until peace is fully restored.
