Gunmen have killed Malam Kabiru Mohammed, the village head of Marke in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
They entered his residence around 12:30 am on Thursday, suspected to be hired killers. After forcing everyone out of the compound, they began searching for Malam Kabiru, who was hiding inside the ceiling with his elder brother, Tukur Mohammed, according to Daily Trust reports.
The gunmen eventually discovered Malam Kabiru, slaughtered him, and set the house ablaze.
According to a member of the community who wished to remain anonymous, the attackers spent about an hour operating in the village and made away with valuables worth millions of naira.
The body of the late village head could not be recovered as the house was burnt down.
Kabiru Mohammed, aged 30, was turbaned as the village head of Marke in 2018. Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Command for comment on the matter proved unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
