Sir Ugochukwu Obiefuna, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor of Anambra State, recently expressed his deep concern regarding the alarming increase in cult-related deaths in Awka, the state capital.
Speaking with NewdayReporters, Sir Obiefuna, who is not only a young person himself but also a parent, emphasized his distress over the loss of young lives due to these senseless acts of violence.
He empathized with parents who have had to suffer the pain of losing their children to this destructive behavior.
In his statement, Chief Ugochukwu urged the youths of Anambra, particularly those residing in Awka, to shun cultism and to take advantage of the numerous development opportunities provided by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
He highlighted initiatives like “1 youth 2 skills” while encouraging young people to abide by the laws of the land, pursue education and vocational training, and prepare themselves to become future leaders and industry captains within the state.
While speaking on the need to embrace positive values, the Deputy Chief of Staff cautioned that those who persist in destructive behavior will eventually face the consequences of their actions.
He appealed to young people who have strayed from the right path to turn their lives around and adopt a more constructive approach.
He assured them that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, is committed to supporting and assisting any young person willing to make positive changes and build a purposeful and fulfilling career.
