During an event organized by the Federal Ministry of Works to compensate property owners affected by the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, accused former presidential candidate Peter Obi of inciting people in the southeast against the government.
Umahi claimed that Obi, by condemning government actions, was bringing judgment upon himself and inciting uninformed people in the region.
Umahi emphasized that his administration was actively involved in addressing the concerns of affected property owners and even extended mercy by compensating those illegally staying on the coastal line.
He cited instances where his administration intervened to save infrastructure and criticized Obi for allegedly not fighting for the people he incites.
Umahi urged the people to have wisdom, stating that he personally fought to address the issues surrounding the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project.
He also mentioned that some individuals donated property to help save affected infrastructure, showing appreciation for the government’s efforts.
Umahi concluded by cautioning against playing politics with the issue.
