Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, the General Overseer of the Omega Power Ministry (OPM), has taken a firm stance against the recent price hike announced by Multichoice Nigeria for its DStv and GOtv packages.
The pay-TV company revealed that starting from May 1st, there would be an increase in subscription fees across various packages.
According to the new pricing, customers on the DStv Premium bouquet will now pay N37,000, up from the current N29,500, while Compact+ subscribers will see their fees rise to N25,000 from N19,800.
Similarly, Compact bouquet subscribers will now pay N15,700, up from N12,500.
For the Confam, Yanga, and Padi packages, subscribers will now pay N9,300, N5,100, and N3,600 respectively, compared to the previous prices of N7,400, N4,200, and N2,950.
This announcement has sparked outrage among customers across the country, with many expressing their frustration at the current economic hardship.
In response to this, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere announced on his official Facebook page that he would not be renewing his DStv subscription until the prices are reduced.
He stated that millions of Nigerians can no longer afford the current subscription fees due to the economic reality in Nigeria.
Apostle Chinyere emphasized that he relies mainly on news and OPM TV, a 24-hour television station, for his viewing pleasure.
However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the price hike and declared his decision to explore alternative viewing options until the prices are reviewed downwards.
