On Saturday, hundreds of candidates registered with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) were left stranded and unable to take their examination at the Destiny CBT Centre, located at Plot 1-4, Ramat Isuaman Crescent, off Golden Block Junction, Olorunsogo – Ayobo, in Alimosho, Lagos.
Videos uploaded on Facebook by Edafe Oghenebrume, captured candidates expressing frustration as they were denied the opportunity to write their exams due to technical issues at the centre.
In the videos, candidates can be heard explaining that the centre’s generator failed to provide sufficient power to operate the computers, resulting in all the laptops shutting down.
As a result, the candidates were unable to proceed with their exams due to the lack of electricity.
This incident occurred despite JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede’s assurance that candidates who missed their examinations on Friday due to technical difficulties would have their exams rescheduled.
Prof. Oloyede had overseen the examination process at the Kogo-Bwari centre in Abuja and initially reported that the UTME had run smoothly, with only one centre experiencing problems on Friday.
However, further technical issues arose at several centres, including the Destiny CBT Centre, leading to candidates being unable to sit for their exams at the scheduled time.
