The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed charges against Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, a popular Instagram personality.

He is accused of violating the Central Bank Act of 2007 by allegedly spraying and tampering with Nigerian currency, specifically N500 notes, during social events. The charges, filed on April 4th by the EFCC’s prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) and seven other lawyers, detail three counts against Cubana Chief Priest.

The first count accuses him of spraying N500 notes for two hours during an event at Eko Hotel on February 13th, 2024. The second count alleges a similar offense during a 2020 event in Lagos, while the third count accuses him of the same offense at a January 2024 event in Lagos.

Cubana Chief Priest is set to be arraigned on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos.

This legal action follows the recent arraignment and sentencing of controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, on similar charges.
