Muslim Community In Abia State Visits Otti, Laments Not Having Their Own Burial Ground

The Muslim community in Abia State, under the leadership of the Abia State Muslim Council, visited Governor Alex Otti at his residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, to pay traditional Salah homage.

Led by Chief Imam Sheik Ali Ukiwo, they expressed gratitude for the opportunity of the Ramadan fasting period, viewing it as a time for seeking forgiveness from Allah and committing to better conduct.

Acknowledging the governor’s role in fostering security, peace, and effective governance in the state, they reflected on the positive impact of his leadership, especially in restoring hope after years of uncertainty.

However, they also brought to his attention an issue regarding land reallocation, where plots designated for the Muslim community’s burial ground were allegedly reassigned without prior notice or reimbursement.

Sheik Ukiwo emphasized the injustice faced by the community and appealed to the governor for intervention. In response, Governor Otti commended the Muslim community for their dedication during Ramadan and their support during the previous governorship election.

He assured them of his commitment to fair treatment and pledged to investigate the land issue.

Furthermore, Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s stance against discrimination and assured the Muslim community of continued solidarity, acknowledging their integral role in the state’s progress.

He concluded by promising to address their concerns and maintain a harmonious relationship with them, viewing them as valued members of his administration.
