A recent rainstorm unleashed devastation upon the Iyara community, located at the heart of the Ijumu Local Government Area in Kogi State. The tempestuous downpour resulted in the destruction of hundreds of homes, leaving over 1000 residents without shelter.

According to reports from local inhabitants, the calamity struck on Monday, catching many off guard. With their homes reduced to rubble, numerous families are now reliant on the goodwill of neighbors, relatives, or friends for temporary refuge.

Expressing deep sorrow over the disaster, Oba Jacob Meduteni, the paramount ruler of Iyara, highlighted the dire situation faced by those now displaced. He issued a heartfelt plea to well-to-do individuals and organizations to extend a helping hand to the victims in their time of need.

Alhaji Aliyu Badaki, serving as the National President of the Iyara Development Association (IDA), confirmed the staggering toll of the storm, citing over 1000 individuals affected by the tragedy.
